His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed” Psalms 72:17
Bahá’u’lláh is often referred to as the Blessed Beauty. This title is often shortened to “The Blessed” by the Persian Bahai’s.
Here are some extracts from the Bahai writings where Bahá’u’lláh is referred
to as the Blessed Beauty:
The world is in great distress and its only salvation is in the spirit and teachings of the Blessed Beauty. Let us not, we who are the trustees of that divine message, fail in accomplishing our task and fulfilling our purpose. (Shoghi Effendi, Arohanui – Letters to New Zealand, p. 31)
The Blessed Beauty said: “All are the fruits of one tree and the leaves of one branch.” (Abdu’l-Baha, Baha’i World Faith – Abdu’l-Baha Section, p. 215)
The herald of peace, reformation, love and reconciliation is the Religion of the Blessed Beauty which has pitched its tent on the apex of the world and proclaimed its summons to the people. (Abdu’l-Baha, Baha’i World Faith – Abdu’l-Baha Section, p. 215)
Speaking to the People of Baha Shoghi Effendi has said:”Know ye of a certainty that whatever gathering ye enter, the waves of the Holy Spirit are surging over it, and the heavenly grace of the Blessed Beauty encompasseth that gathering.” (Shoghi Effendi, Citadel of Faith, p. 28)
O ye beloved of God and the maid-servants of the Merciful! Teaching and learning, according to the decisive texts of the Blessed Beauty, is a duty. Whosoever is indifferent therein depriveth himself of the great bounty. (Abdu’l-Baha, Baha’i World Faith – Abdu’l-Baha Section, p.399)
Abdu’l-Bahá is himself a servant at the Threshold of the Blessed Beauty and a manifestation of pure and utter servitude at the Threshold of the Almighty. (Abdu’l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu’l-Baha, p.295)
The Blessed Beauty is also a lineal descendant of Abraham, for Abraham had other sons besides Ishmael and Isaac who in those days migrated to the lands of Persia and Afghanistan, and the Blessed Beauty is one of their descendants. [1 Bahá’u’lláh.] (Abdu’l-Baha, Some Answered Questions, p. 213)
The Blessed Beauty is the One promised by the sacred books of the past, the revelation of the Source of light that shone upon Mount Sinai, Whose fire glowed in the midst of the Burning Bush. (Shoghi Effendi, The World Order of Baha’u’llah, p. 127)
The Blessed Beauty, in unmistakable language, hath made this promise in His Book: ‘We behold you from Our realm of glory, and shall aid whosoever will arise for the triumph of Our Cause with the hosts of the Concourse on high and a company of Our favoured angels.' [1 Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, LXXII ] (Abdu’l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu’l-Baha, p. 270)
The mere contemplation of the Dispensation inaugurated by the Blessed Beauty,” He furthermore affirms, “would have sufficed to overwhelm the saints of bygone ages — saints who longed to partake for one moment of its great glory.” (Shoghi Effendi, God Passes By, p. 99)
In Memory of Baha and the eternal messengers of the past.
